You’ve got your cute holiday clothes, but what about that beauty routine? Indulge yourself for the holiday (and post-finals) season by adding a little oomph to your look. Here are five holiday beauty musts!
1. The red lip.
It’s not a look you rock to class, but for holiday parties, it will brighten your smile and dress up your whole ensemble. Different skin tones should try different shades (check our this great Glamour.com slideshow for tips!), but we recommend Revlon Matte lipstick in In the Red from Ulta ($6.99).
2. The smoky eye.
If you’re gonna dress up your body, better dress up those eyes to match: a smoky eye for night is easy with Stila Convertible Eye Color from Sephora ($22). This dual eye crayon has shimmery shadow on one end and a smooth eyeliner on the other- play around with layering and lining in shades Onyx or Slate for the perfect smoky eye.
3. The Serena.
Yes, you read right- the hair of the season is the Serena, meaning the hairstyle of Gossip Girl star Blake Lively from the show we all know and love. You know you can’t get through an episode without thinking, “God, how can I get that hair??” Since the New York Times dubbed it the new “Rachel,” it’s official: Blake’s long, wavy, perfectly mussed locks are the ones to have. Use a conditioner or mousse while wet for volume, blow it dry without a brush, then use a large-barrel curling iron for pretty waves (get some help here!)
4. The cheek.
Hot sweaty parties, embarrassing mistletoe moments, rushing in from the cold- trust us, you won’t need any extra blush. That’s why for the holidays, it’s always best to keep the cheek color simple and barely-there. We recommend L’Oreal’s Bare Naturale All-Over Mineral Glow in Nude Glow ($14.99). The light, loose powder in a sheer color adds just enough shimmer but no extra pink.
5. The gift.
Tis the season to gift yourself and your friends- with Bare Escentuals’ Buxom Babes Winter Escapade set ($28) of four holiday lip glosses, you can score yourself a new gloss while taking care of Secret Santa with three adorable glosses for friends. Gifting your friends while gifting yourself, all while looking beautiful? Now that’s what I call holiday cheer.
