Last week I hung out with the cutest boy I have ever seen. He was skinny and pale and had ice blue eyes and a lip ring. Oh, and he had a whole Johnny Depp-esque vibe about him.
Not only was he cute, but he was also seriously flirting with me. He was witty, smart and articulate – and it just made him all the more attractive.
And then, he mentioned going back to his dorm. Wait – what?! Here, I thought I’d been talking to some mature junior like myself with his own house and apartment and possibly a sexy sportscar. But alas, my new crush was …brace yourself…a freshman, and the closest thing he had to a set of wheels were the ones on his skateboard. This boy had just graduated high school less than six months ago, while I have been living on my own for the past three.
I was taken back for a moment, but as soon as I pushed the idea from my mind that this boy was the same age as my little brother, I started to ponder the possibilities. How bad could it really be to have fun with this boy who was obviously smitten with me – and probably would like me more because I could buy him booze? What shame was there in hooking up with a freshman if he was gorgeous, smart and hilarious?
I wanna know what you girls think. Is age really just a number? Have you ever dated someone significantly older or younger than you – and what constitutes “significant”? Do you think I should go for it or look for a guy closer to my age and level in life?
