Glimpse of Gorgeous: il colore rosso di Valentino

One of my life goals is to wear Valentino red, not only because I happen to look amazing in red, but because there’s something about wearing his dresses that declares to everyone that they are in the presence of greatness.

After discovering his signature color red at the circus in Barcelona he later proclaimed, “Red is the only color after black and white,” and he has been continually reinventing the glamorous little red dress ever since. I think it’s safe to say that after 45 years, no one, and I mean no one, does red like Valentino Garavani. From Anne Hathaway to Elizabeth Taylor, he has dressed some of the most beautiful women in history in gowns that are free from fussy extras and cut to perfection. Valentino age 74, has defined elegance for generations through his extraordinary designs and signature red dresses, but announced Tuesday that he will retire after the release of his upcoming ready to wear and haute couture seasons. Former Gucci designer Alessandra Facchinetti is said to take his place.

In order to pay tribute to 45 years of fabulous, and to begin the search for my new favorite red, I have made a list of potential candidates:

1.) Red patent leather heels:for when I’m feeling sexy

2.) The Target logo: cute clothes for cheap…what’s not to love?

3.) The red soles of Christian Louboutin shoes:they say yes, I am wonderful.

4.) Red Lipstick: Glamorous a la Marilyn

5.) Candy apple red Corvettes: do I really need to explain?

Valentino’s legacy will live through his fashion empire long after his life is over. No matter what color you choose to wear be GORGEOUS or as they say in Italy- sia BELLO!
