This month, we at University Chic celebrate the powerful women that have paved the way...
Maria Montessori (August 31, 1870 – May 6, 1952) was an Italian educator, scientist, physician, philosopher, feminist, and humanitarian. She developed an innovative approach to education: “Education should no longer be mostly imparting of knowledge, but must take a new path, seeking the release of human potentialities." She believed that children should be treated as competent human beings, and she be taught in classrooms with child-size furnishings in a child-size environment. Today schools based on the Montessori model exist nationwide.
This weekly blog honors female heroes throughout Women's History Month. The UniversityChic.com Student Editorial Board made these selections.
