Dating in college is no easy task – especially when it comes to the delicate dance of meeting someone awesome in your dorms…and then the awkwardness that follows when it totally crashes and burns. College reationship guru Mike Brown isn’t here to give you advice — he’s all about painting a picture. So check out what he has to say on the topic and draw you own conclusions.
It’s been a while since I’ve posted for the wonderful ladies at UniversityChic. I’ve been doing a lot of soul-searching (which really means a lot of dating), and its been no easy task. This whole courting business as an adult is tough. Dating was some much easier when the person lived across the hall. Who needs dinner and a movie when you have take-out and a DVD? It sounds simple enough, right? Something like a fairytale…
Once upon a time, Boy moves in dorm. Girl moves in dorm. Girl lives across from Boy. Boy and Girl become friends.
Boy thinks about Girl. Boy wants to be at dorm. Boy thinks that Girl is in dorm. Girl is in dorm. Girl is in dorm with New Boy. Boy does not know about New Boy.
Boy surprises Girl. Boy does not sign in because Boy lives in dorm. Boy brings Girl present. Girl already has present. He is New Boy.
Boy knocks on door. Girl will not open. Boy knocks again. Girl will not open. New Boy asks Girl “Why?” Boy overhears New Boy. Girl answers door. Boy is in his room.
Boy is no longer friends with Girl. Girl is still friends with New Boy. New Boy does not live in dorm. Boy always sees New Boy in dorm. Girl always sees Boy. Boy always avoids Girl. Girl lives across from Boy. Boy moves out dorm.
… a fairytale without a happy ending.
