Get Inspired: A Very Happy Unbirthday to YOU!

Growing up, Alice in Wonderland was one of my favorite movies. It was full of so many adventures and interesting characters. Looking back, I acknowledge that the movie is completely bizarre, but I love it if only for nostalgic reasons. One of my favorite parts is the tea party with the Mad Hatter. He is certainly crazy with all of his perplexing riddles and confusing babble, but I think he may be onto something. Unbirthday?! Why, thats a fabulous idea!

What do the Mad Hatter and Paris Hilton have in common? I'll tell you. They both think that you should live everyday like it's your birthday! Paris was quoted saying just that, and she has a point! What if we lived everyday like it was our birthday? Think about how much happier everyone would be.

Your birthday is the one day a year where you can be a total brat and get away with it. There is cake and presents and everyone is exceptionally nice to you. There is nothing like being the birthday brat to boost your self confidence. You feel a little better, people treat you better, and in turn, you treat yourself with more love and respect.

Now, there are a few guidelines to this unbirthday business. Don't live everyday like it's your 21st birthday. That's called alcoholism. There is no need for people to give you presents everyday of the year, and don't eat cake everyday, your mom will be mad. Your present to yourself is that you feel confident and secure about who you are. Treat yourself with a quiet 1/2 hour to read a magazine or a frappucino or a new pair of shoes once a month. This will help you feel special all year long.

So put on your tiara and have a very happy unbirthday!

Get Empowered: Full Disclosure–Is it Worth It?

I’m sure that we’ve all heard about former New York Governor Eliot Spitzer and his meetings with girl known as Kristen. Living in New York, I can’t escape the talk about Spitzer—and I hardly follow politics. New York recently inducted a new governor, David Paterson. I could not be happier to see someone new in

Get Inspired: Friend Drama? Just Talk it Out!

Who hasn’t had problems with their friends once in a while, right? Well, when it comes to me, I can’t stand it when “drama” comes up between me and a friend or anyone else I’m close with. It wasn’t such a problem when I was in high school because I had one best friend who was a girl and we molded so well with each other that it was never really awkward.

Politically Savvy: Gutter Politics

As the election heats up more than ever and the primary season continues to drag on when it should have ended months ago, the campaigns are getting nastier. Both Clinton and Obama's campaigns have engaged in gutter politics – mud-slinging, name-calling, badmouthing, whatever you want to call it. Obama has accused Clinton of being untruthful,

OMG of the Day: Avril Lavigne to Debut Clothing Line

Avril’s new clothing line, Abbey Dawn, is set to show up at Kohl’s. The line is targeted toward juniors. I’m not sure how I feel about this. I’m not the biggest fan of Avril (and even less a fan of her music), but I do like how she’s cleaned up in the past year. She’s

This is a story of a girl who did not wash her face or remove her make-up for the first nineteen years of her life. Although this girl was her, Melanie Harris does not condone this behavior in any way, it may mean long-term consequences for your skin. Compulsive face washers, be advised… College is

Whatcha Think?: Facebook Now Showing Movies?

Does anyone else think Facebook is getting to be a little too much? Oh sure, we all hated it when it became available to high schoolers. And then the rest of the public. And then there was the news feed. Boy, there was a huge backlash on that one, but it stayed nevertheless. And then
