Get Empowered: Forget a Significant Other–Get to Know Yourself!

I'm a Scorpio. I find myself using that exact phrase as an excuse for almost everything – and situation - in my life. My moodiness, my introverted-ness and my over-the-top possessiveness when it comes to my lovers; I blame it all on the stars and that's that.

Get Inspired: Love is the Movement

For some, Valentine's Day is full of hearts and giggles and flowers and all of that other stuff that is especially annoying to us single people, but for others, December through February marks months of depression, loneliness, and an increase in suicides.

Depression is not just for single people. It does not discriminate against race, sex, gender, or social status. There are approximately 121 million people suffering from depression worldwide, trying to take away the hurt with drugs, alcohol, eating disorders, and self-injury. Although these self-destructive acts seem to temporarily release the pain, they often lead to more serious problems, and a deeper sense of emptiness.

To Write Love on Her Arms (TWLOHR) is a nonprofit movement dedicated to "presenting hope and finding help for those struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury and suicide." They exist to encourage, inform, inspire, and also to invest directly into treatment and recovery.

Today through tomorrow To Write Love on Her Arms is encouraging everyone around the world to write the word "love" on their arms with marker (or whatever) as part of the Love is The Movement campaign. The campaign is designed to promote depression awareness and to get the word out about TWLOHR.

Tomorrow is Valentines Day, and whether you have a sweetie or not, don't forget to go out of your way to show love to someone. Love has the power to heal, you just might save someone's life.

Get Inspired: Politically Apathetic? Just Listen

So, if you talked to me about two years ago, I wouldn’t be able to tell you the main differences between a Democrat and a Republican. I would probably (and ignorantly) just talk about how Bush is tearing our nation apart, even though I have no idea what his policy decisions were in the last couple months or so. And I bet that a lot of you girls are the same.

Get Empowered: Whatever Happened to Girl Power?

”I feel like my life is now complete.”

That was my response when people asked me about seeing the Spice Girls Reunion Tour. In all honesty, my life is nowhere near complete, but seeing the Spice Girls live in concert made it so much better.

Get Inspired: Valentine's Day For Your Single Friend

In a few days the holiday dedicated to the chubby cherub Cupid's holiday will be upon us. This time around I'll be spending Valentine's Day solo, but I'm hoping it'll be another one of those where I don't even remember it's Valentine's Day until the end of the day. In a day dedicated to all the lovers, if you're in a relationship why not try something new and do something nice for your single friends?

Some people are single because they suffered a recent break up, or can't find someone to settle down with or maybe just don't have an eye for a relationship right now. I know that everyone who is in any type of "coupledom" will find themselves going out with their significant other, but here are a few tips to brighten up your single friends' day.

- Notes Send a note or a message saying how much you value the friendship. Sure, it may not be your friend's love interest proclaiming a long burning crush on them, but it'll make them smile. It's super easy to do with MySpace and Facebook to write your friend a message or send a cute graphic.

-Lunch Before you go out for that dinner date with your boyfriend have a lunch date with your friend at her favorite restaurant.

-Buy her candy. Single people may hate V-Day, but that won't stop them from enjoying a nice box of chocolates or some candy hearts. Or a fun alternative is looking up some recipes on line and making her some cute little deserts.

-Creative If all else fails as a good idea for your friend, be creative. You should know her pretty well so do something she doesn't expect but that she'd like. Whether it's running to Walmart and printing out pictures of you two together and making a small collage or scrapbook, or making her a basket of soaps and lotions of her favorite scent.

-Alternative Don't have time to do any of that because you have a busy Valentine's Day? Ask your friend to do something fun the day before or the next day. Go on a shopping spree or find a fun museum to go to. Spend the afternoon discussing the complexities of the male gender and watch your favorite anti-romantic comedies.

For any of these tips to work you can't make your friend feel like you pity her. Again, there are various reasons why your friend may be single, so don't assume she is longing and pining for a relationship. Instead approach the situation nicely and just let her know you want to show her that you appreciate her friendship. Take back the meaning of Valentine's Day from this ultra sappy romantic day and use it to show platonic love. She'll most likely never forget it and you're more likely to get a really nice birthday present this year.

Politicall Savvy: In the Aftermath of Super Tuesday…

In the last week or so, about half the states in the country finished their primary elections. So what happened in the aftermath? Well, it should have been pretty clear by now who's going to win each of the major party nominations. But instead, it got even more interesting. On the Republican side, John McCain

OMG of the Day: Tent Dresses are Back on Campus

It’s pretty cold all over the country, and still, girls are going out in sleeveless tops and heels, sacrificing warmth and comfort for style at parties. But what’s been showing up after hours is the tent dress. Trapeze dresses also fit under this category. Affably named after, well, a tent, these dresses don’t do anything

Get Empowered: Can High Heels Be Good For You?

Some women are known to have a slight obsession with shoes. I have to admit, I'm one of them. I love a cute pair of flats paired with skinny jeans or a hot pair of boots (yes, with the fur), but because I'm 4'10", high heels are my ultimate weakness. But according to a new
