Real Talk Monday: Quarter Life Crisis

Is there really a such thing as quarter life crisis? There's an interesting opinion piece in a local Florida newspaper that explains this possibility.

If you're a senior, anxious at the thought of embarking on the adventures of the outside world, you're not alone. Prepare yourself for realistic changes that have to be made and you'll be set for the next chapter in your life.

Reach for the stars! Moving forward is way better than staying stationary.

Mizz Rajul’s Game of Love: Beautiful Liar

I have that new Beyonce and Shakira song on repeat these days! But aside from the hot beat, it got me thinking about real life beautiful liars. You know, those guys who are so smooth and charming that they can sell sand to the beach?

My ex was definitely a beautiful liar and I had to let that go quickly because I cherish the truth too much - even if it's something I don't want to hear. Why is it that men will embellish the truth so nonchalantly just to avoid hitting an awkward conversation? And why do we as young women - often lacking the life experience to help us know better - let love blind us?

Hot Topic Thursday: Pelosi Visits Saudi Arabia

U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is currently overseas visiting Saudi Arabia, putting her American two cents on peace initiatives, etc. From what I’ve read, she’s been holding her own over there, representing a powerful female political figure in a community where women aren’t allowed to hold office.

The fact that female politicians are just beginning to make major waves even on home soil, where we are supposedly so “liberal” makes me wonder what’s been holding us back? Is it the authority thing that women are not genetically inclined too (that’s a bold opinion on my part)? Or is it masses of doubts from the distant past?

Either way, times are definitely changing and I’m hoping that an American female icon like Nancy Pelosi can not only change views in the Middle East, but right here at home too.

Style Wednesday: Bag It Up

Though we would all love to embody the designer sex appeal that exists when carrying a couture clutch, the reality is that it’s just not a reasonable way to spend 500-800 bucks. It’s going to be “so last season” in a few months anyway, so why even bother?

Fear not, because there’s a way you can live out your Sex and the Campus fantasy without ending up in debt. There’s this website called Bag Borrow or Steal that rents out fabulous high end bags for a very reasonable fee. My girlfriends and I think it’s the most brilliant thing since the Peach Cosmo was invented. Check it out and let me know if you share my sentiment

Tip Tuesday: Ms. Moneybags or Broker than a Joker?

That title, my dear, is completely up to you. Yes, most people are on a tight budget during their college years. However, there are ways to be responsible with the money you do have.

I'm more of a spender and one of my close friends is a saver. We make similar amounts of money but she's always got stacks while my account usually holds about $12.84. How is this possible? It's because no one taught me how careful I really need to be (when in doubt, always blame the parents lol). So now, I'm taking matters into my own hands, and you should too.

Here are a few tips to get you started.

Chic Product Review: Otterbox iPod Case

"My iPod has been through plenty of abuse after being haphazardly tossed into countless bags and purses. So I was interested to see what kind of protection an OtterBox case had to offer."

Real Talk Monday: Raising Prices of Birth Control

Syracuse's student newspaper, The Daily Orange, has a pretty upsetting story in it about the recent decision to raise costs of birth control pills in college health centers. This is leaving a lot of women stressed out, since it's a very basic need for them. I mean, we're not exactly millionaires at this point in our lives.

Health officials are worried that these women will result to using less costly - and less effective - forms of birth control. And we all know what that leads to.

Are You an H.P.C?

"Hi. I’m an H.P.C. That stands for a habitual procrastinating chicster. I just made the term up five seconds ago but it works."
