I don't think it's ever okay. My ex-best friend fell in love with my boyfriend, and stopped talking to me. My boyfriend then told her that we'd broken up (we hadn't) and cheated on the two of us. We both found out.
None of us can talk to the other. Everything has changed... although I did try, for a very long time, to make things work.
