“Oh my God! Oh, this one is funny,” I say gawking at one of the 101 "little known sex facts" in my issue of Cosmo.

“Is this the type of stuff girls like to talk about?” Matt says keeping his eyes on the road.

It has been a stressful semester for us, and we’re driving to the mountains for a four-day getaway at the start of our Christmas break. Matt’s Uncle Tony, his mom’s brother, and Aunt Isabella own a resort in the mountains of North Carolina and they were renting their best cabin to us for our getaway. He said it’s his mom’s Christmas gift to us.

“No listen to this one,” I say patting his knee. “It says ‘The average speed of ejaculation is 28 mph.’”

“Wait, who measures this stuff?” he says looking at me quickly. I laugh.

“And when they say ‘average,’ that means they’ve measured it more than once,” I chime in.

He pauses. “Wow, all this sex talk, Jo. I’m starting to think you might be trying to seduce me.” He gives me a quick wink.

“You know it.” I catch his eye and wink back. There’s an awkward pause, I blush and I see him adjust the waist of his pants.

It was true; I wanted to seduce him. We had talked about it, and he felt the same way about me. Lucky me, I have a guy who wanted to make our first time together special, hence the mountain getaway.

Matt sighs with anticipation and picks up his phone. I begin thumbing through the magazine to find another interesting article.

“Hey, Uncle Tony,” Matt says into his phone. “You told me to call when I saw the first sign for the resort…okay, I’ll see you and Auntie Isabella in a few minutes.” He hangs up.

“We’re almost there?”

“Yeah, he said we’ll be there in 5 minutes, he just told us to go straight to the cabin and not worry about checking in at the lodge.”

I grab my purse to touch up my makeup.

We pull up to the cabin quicker than expected, and are greeted by Matt’s uncle and aunt.

“Wow, this must be the lovely Jolisa, whom I’ve heard so much about.” Matt’s uncle shakes my hand and pulls me in for a hug. He, like Matt’s dad, has a slight New Yorker-styled Italian accent. “Good job, my boy.” I hear him say as he helps Matt grab our bags out of the trunk. Matt’s aunt Isabella, who is a petite but stunning older woman, leads me into the beautiful cabin explaining were everything is in a delicate Spanish accent.

Everything is amazing, the cabin is full of rich colors and fragrances. The living room has a roaring fireplace and huge couch. The kitchen is complete with full appliances. The bedroom has a king-sized bed, walk-in closet, and Jacuzzi tub/shower.

There’s a beautiful display of chocolate covered strawberries, candles and sparkling grape juice on a bedside table.

I’m in awe.

I hear Matt thanking his uncle ‘for everything’ as Isabella finishes the tour and they prepare to leave.

“This is amazing, Matt.” I say as he locks the front door to the cabin after saying goodbye to his family members. I’m sitting on the edge of the bed.

“You are amazing,” He walks into the room and leans in to kiss me.  Something about being in this cabin, no suitemates, far away from drama, with only him, a guy that I was so taken by, set my body on fire.

From the way he kisses me and rubs my body I assume he feels the same way. He begins to unbutton my blouse and kiss down my chest.

“Wait, Matt,” I say desperately fighting against what my body was screaming.

“Yeah,” He asks looking intense.

“I want to take a shower, before we do anything,” I say softly, reflecting on the staleness my body could have from sitting in a car for 5 hours. I want everything to be perfect.

He looks like he wants to protest. But nods instead. He rolls off me and sits on the side of the bed covering his lap with a pillow.

“I’ll be quick, I promise.” I kiss his neck.

I jump in the shower quickly, lathering up with the complimentary lavender body wash Isabella “left just for me”, she had said that with a wink, I’m just getting why now.

I’m so nervous but the smell was very relaxing.

I rinse my mouth quickly with Listerine. I slather my body quickly with the matching body lotion Isabella left. I let my poofy hair down from my bun and coif it into a sexy updo.

I check myself in the mirror and sigh to help calm my nerves. I look sexy, wearing only a sapphire towel that makes my dark skin glow. My clean face looks fresh and my embarrassment of the situation has given my brown cheeks a reddish glow.

I open the door, Matt sits up quickly on the bed. He’s wearing only his boxers and holding a small black box tied with a white bow. The room is lit only by candles and smells like his cologne.

I smile at him.

“That wasn’t too long, was it?” I walk towards him and sit on the edge of the bed.

“No,” He says quietly. I turn my body towards him. He seems nervous, I expected a more sarcastic response.

“Jo, I got something for you,” He says after a long sigh. I nod to let him know I’m listening. “Jolisa, these past four months have been great. I love being with you. And I know we’ve been through a lot of crap because of our relationship, but I just want you to know, as long as you’re willing to give me a chance, I’ll be here for you, because I, I…I don’t want to let you go.” He pauses, looks in my eyes and parts his lips to say more, but seems to lose his nerve. He looks back down at the box he’s holding. “I got this for you,” He finishes softly.

I untie the bow and open the box. Inside it is thin white gold necklace supporting a beautiful cursive J charm littered with diamonds.

Matt takes the necklace out the box to put around my neck. I stand up and he stands behind me to secure the clasp. He rubs my shoulders gently once he’s done and begins kissing my shoulders.

“I love you, Jolisa.” I hear him say gently. My breath quickens and turn around to face him. His face is tinted red and his hands nervously shake around waist. I smile sweetly and put my hands on his face.

“I love you too, Matthew,” I say with tears forming in my eyes. I feel his body relax before he kisses me deeply, laying me gently against the bed and removing my towel.

He kisses my skin with such passion starting at my neck and slowly moving down my body until like a drug and its antidote, our bodies scream for each other, longing to be connected.

And they do.

He weaves a blanket of pleasure so thick and sweet, I fall asleep in his arms for the rest of the evening and night.

********

I awake the next morning, naked under the covers, to the smell of breakfast. I get up to quickly brush my teeth and find that Matt has unpacked my clothes, hung them in the closet and unpacked my toiletries in the bathroom. I smile to myself as I look in the bathroom mirror, my body still tingling from last night’s romp. I brush my teeth quickly, put on a bathrobe and head to the kitchen.

Matt’s standing over the stove, wearing only a towel at the waist, cooking.

And he cooks too.

He looks over his shoulder at me.

“Good morning, beautiful,” He puts his spatula down, walks up to me and kisses me sweetly.

“Good morning,” I’m melting slowly under his gaze. Something about the way he looked at me this morning made me tingly inside.

“Umm,” He grunts, biting his lip. Rubbing his hands over my hips he stares intensely into my eyes. “God, I love you so much.” He breaks away from me quickly like a moth trying to resist a flame. “You hungry, Jo?” He sets two plates on the table with omelets and looks at me again with those longing eyes. I breathe deeply trying to settle my growing yearning for him.

We eat quickly in silence pausing only to wink at each other or play footsie under the table. Matt excuses himself to the restroom after breakfast and I begin to wash the dishes.

He returns moments later, watching me from the other side of the room.

“What?” I ask looking at him questioningly. He walks up behind me, gently pulls back the top of my robe and begins kissing my shoulders.

“I’m still hungry…,” He says slyly.

I rinse my hands quickly, hoping this is going where I think it’s going.

He turns me around and gently lifts me onto the counter. He unties my robe and drops his towel.

Sanitary, no, but our kitchen counter frolic was just what the both of us needed. Our thirst for each other had been growing for the past four months and with each of our escapades we helped quench the thirst a little more.

*****

By the last day, I think we quenched enough the thirst enough to well make up for the two weeks we would be away from each other during the holidays.

We thanked his aunt and uncle for the stay and I gave an extra special thank you to Isabella for the lavender bath set- which Matt and I used on our third night to have an extra sexy bath together.

Our ride back to Polk University, to my car, was much like our ride to the mountains, lots of sex talk, this time about our own sex facts, of which I’m sure we racked up about 101 also.

“I had a wonderful time, Matt,” I say helping him move my things into my car.

“Hmm, me too.” He closes my trunk and leans against the side of my black Honda Civic. I lean against his chest and we pause for a moment. We’re the only two people in the deserted parking lot; all students are gone for the holiday.

“You think things will be different now?” I ask looking up at him.

“I hope so,” He looks down at me. “I’ve learned not to care what people think. I know I love you and that’s all that matters.”

I smile. “Yeah, but Matt we can’t expect the world to see us any differently than what we are.”

“People will get over it one day. We’re an interracial couple--so what? What would the day be without the night, the sun without the moon, rain without shine-“

“Black without white,” I say rubbing his back.

We stand there for a moment together in silence, afraid that I might not can endure what the world might have in store for us.

He kisses my forehead and as if reading my mind says, “As long as our love for each other is strong, we’ll be fine, Jo.”

I say goodbye to my love, Matt, until the New Year--with no doubt that he is right.
