We can do this--but the men need to be in on it too
I completely agree that women need to be more encouraging to female political candidates. However, it's just as important that men become enthusiastic supporters as well, not only as voters but as fundraising contributors and campaign managers. It's not likely we'll ever see equal numbers of "stay at home" dads and moms yet men can still help the cause in their roles as husbands, professors, and bosses. In particular, fathers are instrumental in expanding the scope of young girls' dreams: if a daughter hears her father say he sincerely believes she can become president someday, that will mean much more to her than any pamphlet or TV special.
