Dear Diary,
The hours leading up to Friday ticked by slowly, and Thursday had really dragged. The stage on Friday was already set, but I had to ensure all the players would be there. I began texting everyone from the Magnificent Seven with the exception of Justin and Michelle. I told no one about my plans or what I had seen. Everyone got the same generic message:
What’s up…been missing u…Jersey is boring, so I’m coming to the spot on Friday…hope to see you…. XOXOXOXO…Jade.
All of them hit me back, but I didn’t respond. As with Justin, my message was just lines I threw out there to see if they would bite back. They took the bait…good.
What is in a name? I ask you. My parents named me Jade because jade is my mother’s favorite stone and my father proposed to her in Japan, but the name never really fit me until now. Jade is a perfect name for me because that is how I feel--jaded. The man I thought was my soulmate is gone. The woman that I called my sister is now hanging on him like a cheap suit on a wire hanger. Life sure can be crazy. I never thought it would be like this. The circle of peers that I called my family is secretly caught in a love triangle. Tonight I will throw down the gauntlet and wage war. Some may ask why. Some may believe it is for the heart of Justin Gardner. Truth is, Justin is not the prize. After the pictures I have seen it is doubtful that he and I will ever get back together.
It is my pride and honor that have been threatened. Denise was right--I must not let a treacherous act like that occur without raining down some justice. Others would probably say let karma work, and I am. Tonight, I will be her faithful servant. Whatever she and fate will me to do, I will do.
I always love Fridays. I get out at twelve and have the entire afternoon to myself. This particular Friday afternoon was spent at Short Hills mall with Denise picking out the perfect outfit for tonight’s showdown. My choice for the night was red. Red compliments my skin tone very well and it is also is the color of fire. Fire is what had I planned on bringing to the club. Denise felt white would be a better choice. White also compliments my skin tone and is the color of peace, but since there would be no peace, the color would serve as a visual form of deception. Also, under the strobe lights the white would provide an ultraviolet glow ensuring all eyes would be on me wherever I moved on the dance floor. I thought about it…Denise was right. White would be the best choice.
I bought a beautiful long white dress from the Guess store that made me look hella sexy. I already had the stilettos at home that would compliment the dress. The only small problem was the dress was one hundred eighty five dollars. I remedied that by using the joint American Express platinum card Justin gave me. I figured it was Justin’s fault that I had to buy a new dress. He might as well pay for it.
Then I began to think…. that was chump change for him. The shoes I had at home were nice, but maybe I could find something at the mall that would work better. I went shoe shopping and found the perfect pair of Charles David platform mules, but my work still was not done. Since Denise volunteered to go with me I thought she should have an outfit too. We needed makeup, so we went to the MAC store and bought all the hottest new shades for the summer, one of everything for Denise and one of everything for me. Accessories had almost slipped my mind, luckily right before I left I remembered to go to Juicy Couture to find some accessories that complimented to our outfits. Then it was time to get our hair done, and I decided to throw in a facial for good measure. Justin’s card served me very well.
Denise had a dinner date prior to our showdown at the club. I made myself a salad for dinner, wrapped my hair, and took a nap so I could have all my strength. Denise woke me up with a phone call at 10:30. She was on her way back and it was time for me to get ready. I showered and got myself together. By the time Denise changed into her new Armani Exchange top and jeans that were purchased courtesy of Justin Gardner it was an hour later. Denise came over to get me and brought a small bottle of Hennessey. We toasted to the demise of all lies and liars. We drank our drink and headed out the door at midnight.
During the ride over to the city we listened to James Brown’s Big Payback getting more hyped as we neared closer to the club. We parked, walked three blocks to the club and paid to get in. We immediately went to the bar. I ordered a shot of vodka to ensure that nothing would stain my dress. We walked drinks in hand through the crowd, rolling our shoulders back like big cats in search of big prey. Denise was right. The strobe lights beamed off my dress and I lit up like a neon sign on the strip in Vegas. I felt like Tupac--all eyes were on me.
As I started to make my way toward the back I realized all the players were there with the exception of Tyriq. Damn, I had wanted him to be there, but it didn’t matter. The show still had to go on.
The crew was huddled together. To an outsider it must have looked like the crew was getting together after a brief hiatus. No one knew about the drama that had unfolded weeks before or about the drama that was about to unfold shortly. Skeeter watches everything, so it was only natural that he saw me first. Loyal to the very end, he alerted his boy to my presence. Justin was standing close to Michelle with his arm around her shoulder. They were even dressed in the same colors…how cute. Justin never did that with me.
He turned his head and saw me. At first he looked shocked, and then he looked worried. Michelle saw me, immediately turned away, and began talking to China, another member of the crew. I also noticed that Michelle slipped from under Justin’s arm. Now she wants to be shy. What a joke. I stepped in front of them all. Everyone had a worried look on his or her face. I tried to put their mind at ease by giving big hugs to everyone with the exception of you know who--or whos I should say in this case. Whos, is that a word…LOL?
Anyhoo, Katrina looked at me and said, “No hugs for all the crew? I think you missed two.”
“Nah," I replied, "I don’t wrap my arms around tricks or tramps. Nor do I lock arms with snakes that slither on two legs. You know that saying about snakes, don’t you Trina. They will always bite you.”
The gauntlet had been thrown. They all looked at me in amazement knowing I had just made a declaration of war on both Justin and Michelle. I stared at him with a look that was colder than the Antarctic tundra in January. I then turned my gaze to her, my left eye began to squint. All the while I was saying to myself, “Please make a move…. please. I have been waiting to crack you a good one in the mouth.”
To the disappointment of my knuckles, she didn’t. Instead the whole crew scattered. Everyone went to his or her respective corners. Justin paired up with Skeeter and Michelle went to the middle of the dance floor. She started to roll her body like the snake that she is. Denise and I walked within striking distance of her and notice that Justin was in her eyeshot. I noticed that he watched every roll. Skeeter kept his eyes on me.
I thought to myself, enough of this. I went to the bar, and bought two more shots of vodka. One I drank at the bar, the other I had the bartender fill with ice. I walked back onto the dance floor and crept over to where Michelle was putting on her erotic show for Justin. I walked up to her, tapped her on the shoulder and said, “I think you need to cool off bitch. Here is a drink on me.” Then I threw the shot of vodka and ice in her face.
She was shocked. The club froze. The music was still playing, but no one was dancing. Michelle reached out to grab me. I ducked, swung around, and mushed her in the face. Before another blow could be struck on either side Skeeter put himself in the middle of both of us and began to hold Michelle back. I hollered, “YEAH SKEETER! HOLD YOUR BOY’S SKANK BACK!” Michelle was livid and was doing everything in her power to get to me. Denise was on the floor cracking up. I tried to make another move towards Michelle when I felt a firm hand placed around my arm. At first I thought it was Justin but as I looked around I noticed he was still in the same spot looking stunned. It was Tyriq. He made it just in time for the action. He looked me in the eye and said, “Come on Jade, let’s go.” Denise and I turned and walked out with him.
Tyriq has always had a way of calming me down. I was always the most comfortable around him. Denise walked out with us but decided she was going to go home. I opted to stay with Tyriq. We went to a lounge and began to drink, and drink, and drink. The last thing I remember was me sitting on his lap. Then there was darkness. The next thing I remember I woke up in Tyriq’s bed and he was beside me knocked out. Oh no! What did I do last night?
