Although I don't claim to be a sports fanatic, of even a fan, I have to admit that my Sunday afternoons are being taken over my FOOTBALL. It seems like everyone around me is converting lazy Sundays into football mania. With the growing popularity of fantasy teams and friendly wagers on games, what better way to spend your Sunday afternoon than with a Football Feast! Get all your friends together at your place to spend the day watching some pigskin and snacking on some major treats!
INVITATIONS ONLY
Stick with a sporty theme for your invites, but consider adding a bit of your own personal touch with these great invites from Partyinvitations.com. Choose from a variety of colors and coordinate with the colors of your favorite team! Personalize your invites by giving each person a "seat number and row" to sit in!
For a pack of 15-24, regular paper invites are $1.39 each, and if you feel like splurging, those with magnet backers are $2.65 each.
As always, if you're feeling crafty, consider saving a few dollars and making your very own fabulous invites. Try making football shaped invitations. They're easy to make and the only materials you'll need are plain paper, scissors and some markers!
SWEET SLURPS
Since the theme of your party is all about sports, one word comes to mind: BEER. Certainly there are many variations of this very typical sports party beverage, but for your football feast, try thinking out of the box a bit.
MIX IT UP
I came across these fabulous "Yummy Margarita's" on allrecipe.com and they are wonderful! These sour margaritas can easily be paired with standard sports snacks such as nachos and pizza!
INGREDIENTS
1 (12 fluid ounce) can frozen limeade concentrate
6 fluid ounces beer
6 fluid ounces tequila
4 cups ice
1 lime, sliced
(Recipe via http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Yummy-Margaritas/Detail.aspx)
Dazzle your guests with a fun new tasty treat instead of the typical party beverages. Everyone would expect to get boring old beer and juice at a football party, and these margaritas will certainly spice things up a bit!
For those under 21, consider making non-alcoholic margaritas, or splurge on your calorie intake for the day and make milkshakes!
HALFTIME SNACKS
Game parties are pretty standard: a few dozen wings, a couple of large pizzas and any kind of nachos. For your football feast, consider serving some homemade treats, all by staying within a reasonable budget. Instead of simply going to Subway and buying that six-foot long sub, try making your own!
Simply buy a few cold cuts--turkey, ham, cheese, etc.--a few loaves of bread and you've got your ingredients! Make as many sandwiches as you want to fit the number of people at your party; cut bread into small triangles and simply place on a plate. Sound simple--it is! Rather than stuffing your faces with fatty wings and nachos, you'll be able to enjoy as much as you want without feeling like you need to nap through the second half of the game! If you're feeling lazy, also consider ordering the standard party foods. either will suffice for your football feast!
FANTASY TIME
For those of you football fanatics, get your fantasy team all picked out and get ready to battle your friends! Whether you're a huge fan or not, a little friendly competition is enough to spice up any activity. Sit around, watch the game and enjoy a nice relaxing Sunday with your friends. Your football feast will serve as a nice break away from the stresses of school and work!
