When I was in junior high, I fell victim to that fantasy most 13-year-old girls have: dating the star football player of their school. While that fantasy never quite panned out (alas, Chase and I were just never meant to be), this season's upcoming fall fashions are actually allowing me to live out my teenage dream with one key piece: the letterman jacket. So if you’re looking for a chance to look collegiate chic and keep your independence, check out these latest styles as you prep to return to class this semester.
Urban Outfitters is a great shop to hit if you’re looking for one of these classic sweaters to add to your fashion arsenal. The store’s new fall collection consists of a ton of varying styles that all have their own unique edge. If you’re looking to go out for a casual night on the town, check out the BDG Varsity Cardigan ($48.00). Throw on a simple tank or preppy oxford underneath one of the many colors this cute piece comes in, and you’re ready for an easygoing evening at the bar or movie theater.
Looking for something to throw on when that chilly fall air hits and you’ve got to rush off to class? Try Urban’s Wildfox Couture Prep Gidget Sweatshirt ($108.00). Perfect with jeans and a messy ponytail, this style will get you through those late nights, “I can’t believe I overslept!” mornings and everything in between while still keeping you at your most fashionable.
Abercrombie & Fitch also offering up some sporty-prep options this fall with the introduction of their Brittany Letterman Jacket ($70.00). Cropped to be a little bit shorter than the norm, the jacket is versatile enough for a lunch out with friends or a fun game of flirty football with the guys. Now who’s the star of the football team?
Must Have: My personal favorite is the Kara Varsity Cardigan from Delias ($49.50). This style is not only super-soft, but is also styled in a “boyfriend fit.” With those two things combined, this sweater is perfect for cozying up on cool nights with some hot chocolate and the latest episode of Gossip Girl (or that hot guy who just moved into your dorm).
Trust me, this is one hot look that doesn't require some sporty stud to achieve!
