Airbrushed Discussion Part II
||If you’ve been reading the comments, Marina tipped us off to some photos of some models in this month’s issue of W Magazine that are airbrush and makeup free.
Check out this side-by-side comparison of Kate Moss. On the left is how we usually see her, on the right is the photo she took for W Magazine!
Katie Couric Gets Airbrushed
||Watch! Magazine, a publication for CBS and American Airlines, digitally enhanced (airbrushed) a photo of Katie Couric without her knowledge or approval. Airbrushing has long been a standard practice among models, and it seems to have become the norm with celebrities, but Katie’s a news anchor. Couric said, “I liked the first picture better because there’s more of me to love.”
This is like when you put skinny pictures of yourself up on your myspace page. It’s only natural to want to put your best foot forward, but is it false advertising when you’re on national television everyday and people can clearly see what you actually look like?
Lucrative College Degrees…..Does Yours make the Cut?
Which majors/fields are reporting significant increases in starting salaries? _I have to mention though, I recently received some very good advice about following passion and opportunity for growth, rather than money….for what it’s worth. Check out the CNN Money article
College Couture: In Case You Cared….
The Emmys were on Sunday and there were some definite trends on the red carpet. Purple was big, _which in my opinion, is kind of a year late_, so was lace, and everyone was layering jewelry. I understand that that’s a trend, but I think Julia Louis-Dreyfus ( an Emmy winner as well ) was the best-dressed of the night, keeping it simple in a stunning Narciso Rodriguez. Second place goes to Evangeline Lily, and third to Scrubs star, Sarah Chalke.

College Couture: The Fendi B Bag…..Buy, or Borrow?
||There’s a new store called Cusp. It’s owned by Neiman Marcus Group, but apparently that’s supposed to be a secret. There are only four of them. One in LA, one in some secret location (I’m guessing Texas since I that’s where the original Neimans was ( please don’t ask me how I know that ), one in downtown DC and one in Mclean, Virginia.
It’s expensive! And it took me totally off guard. I’m walking past a coffee table made of driftwood and bamboo and all of a sudden, I notice that sitting on the distressed coffee table, entwined in a jungle of locks and cords…..is the new fall FENDI B Bag! The black patent leather one that Paris Hilton has. $1,895…a bit above a college-students budget.
A Possible Solution to My B Bag Woes?
||Thinking about buying a Fendi B Bag is dangerous for my health, one, because it’s about the same price as my first car…..two, because I’m not sure I wouldn’t be sick of it after Christmas. So I went to Bag Borrow or Steal and they had it there! I’ve blogged about this site before, and I’ve blogged about a Fendi B Bag knock off before….well, here you get the best of both worlds!
Here’s how it works: You sign up for a membership and you can rent the bags by either the week or the month. Now, it can be a bit pricey, but it’s no $1900 bucks! You can borrow some of the bags for less than 15 dollars per week! And they have a “gently used” outlet store!
